Top 5 IT Skills for 2022 - Fresh graduates
2021 was yet another challenging for the Information and Technology industry. Since many companies continued with work from home model, it lead to many new challenges in the industry. Even in 2022, many companies will continue the work from home model and also start adopting Hybrid operation model in the future.
As the Industry is moving towards the hybrid model, I would like to share few key skills that will be looked for in the year 2022 and beyond.
Cyber Security or Network Security will be one of the key areas in which the Industry will look for more engineers. Vulnerabilities and Security threats are all time high, as the employees are connecting to the office environment via multiple channels. Intrusion detection and prevention will be the key player with respect to network security. Strong understanding on the networking concepts and certifications will help fresh graduates to move towards Network Security domain.
More than the previous years, cloud adoption and cloud migration will happen in full swing. Going forward, any new application will be mostly a cloud based application. Existing applications will also be migrated towards cloud. Good understanding on the cloud concepts, hands on experience on the cloud and certifications will help fresh graduates to work on the cloud based projects.
After this pandemic, Number of people who have started using the digital medium has exponentially increased. Promoting the products via various social media platforms has become mandatory for all the business to sustain and grow. Digital marketing will be one of the key areas, which will have good scope for the fresh graduates. Certification and hands on experience with respect to Digital marketing will help a fresh graduate to get good opportunity in this domain. Having an internship experience in this will be an added plus.
As like previous years, things related to data will continue to rule in the upcoming years too. Due to this pandemic, the amount of data that has been shared has exponentially increased. Data base management and data science will be the key player in 2021. Good understanding on the DBMS, hands on experience on writing queries, programming experience on Python or R will help the fresh graduates to move towards data related roles.
Note: Strong understanding on the data structures and algorithms is mandatory for any role in Data.
During the pandemic, Automation and DevOps played a key role for the insurance and heath care related projects. Unusual demand was met successfully with the help of less human engineers and automation. Automation literally helped the human engineers to reduce their workload. Companies will continue to invest more on the DevOps and Automation in the upcoming years. Knowledge on scripting languages and certifications on the automation tools may help the fresh graduates to work on the automation related projects.
There are other areas like block chain, crypto currency and Machine Learning (AI) will also have good scope in the upcoming years.
